Linux Install Party

Want to try something different from Windows or macOS? Come to Launchpad023 in Haarlem and explore Linux in a friendly, beginner welcoming environment.

Information

  • Thinking about trying something different from Windows or macOS?
  • Tired of constant upgrades or systems deciding when your computer is “too old”?
  • Have a laptop or desktop you’d like to speed up or experiment with?
  • Want a computer that gives you more control and respects your privacy?
  • Want to learn how to reduce your reliance on big tech companies?
  • Or just interested in seeing what Linux is all about?

Bring your computer and we’ll help you get started.

With more people rethinking their relationship with big tech platforms, and moments like the Windows 10 end of life prompting curiosity, many are exploring Linux for the first time. Linux can give older hardware new life, offer a different way of working, and let you shape your computer around your needs instead of the other way around. This evening is a chance to explore that together in a relaxed, beginner friendly setting in Haarlem.

This will be a loose, guided install night at Launchpad023. Brian Johnson, co founder of Launchpad023 and CTO of Gozynta, will lead the session and help everyone through the process step by step. We’ll explain what’s happening as we go so you understand what you’re doing, not just click through an installer.

You can bring almost any computer. We can help install Linux on Windows PCs, Macs, or systems where you want to try Linux alongside what you already use. If you already run Linux, you’re also welcome to come for help, tweaks, or questions. We’ll have a few computers already running Linux so you can try it first if you’re unsure.

We’ll also have monitors, keyboards, and mice available if you’d like to work on or upgrade a desktop setup.

No prior experience is needed. If you’re curious, that’s enough.

Some installs are quick. Others take a bit of experimenting. Every machine is different, and that’s part of the evening. The goal is to learn together, explore freely, and leave with a better understanding of what Linux can do.
